Jamdani (Bengali: জামদানি) also known as Dhakai is a fine muslin textile of Bengal. The word Jamdani was derived from Persian which was the official language of Mughals. Jam means flower and Dani means vase, symbolizing the floral patterns that were widely used in the weave. Jamdani is recognized from the UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. The weavers work on the extensive patterns with graph paper designs on top which takes lot of dedication sprinkled with affection for the art. These sarees are bound to make a statement for you whenever you drape it in style!
